Road Diets are popping up all over Los Angeles, taking away lanes on our most critical arterials in an effort to slow traffic. The politicians say it's about safety, but it's actually about creating gridlock to force people out of their cars. They're ignoring the realities of living here, and they haven't given us viable alternatives -- L.A. is more spread out than other cities and doesn't have extensive public transit. Road diets don't belong on the city's boulevards. On Venice and Culver, accidents are up, pollution is worse, businesses are dying, the traffic is unbearable and the resultant stress is deadly. There are 4o arterial road diets planned across L.A. Streets like Wilshire, Beverly, Lincoln, Ventura.... If we don't stop this now, there will be no going anywhere.
